SOUTH AMERICAN GRAND ADVENTURE
This grand adventure takes in a compelling blend of city culture and superb scenery in Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Chile.  Our journey includes the captivating city of Rio de Janiero, dramatically set between rainforest-clad cliffs and the sea.  Rio is always awash in exuberance, and is undoubtedly one of the world’s most beautiful city settings.

Vibrant Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, adds a different urban dimension.  The “pearl” of South America features the European architecture of its founders and has an intense cultural life where tango, long coffee meetings and football are essential elements of daily life.  Santiago, Chile presents a pleasing choice of museums, markets, restaurants and nightspots, wrapped up in a friendly environment.  Lima runs at a slower pace than many South American metropolises; its rhythm is more traditional, and its people relaxed.  Situated high in the mountains, Cuzco is a mix of Inca heritage and Spanish colonial influence.  Its cobblestone streets are home to numerous shops and watering holes and in this delightful city you can delve into a selection of Spanish tavernas, cathedrals and colourful Quechua Indian markets.

The variety of natural beauty in these four countries is without parallel.  The Iguazu Falls are formed by a group of 270 falls of varying height and power.  The biggest attraction is the Garganta del Diablo, or Devil’s Throat, where the sheer power of the falling water creates a roar that can be heard miles away.  In the surrounding jungle, visitors can find more than 200 species of trees, 448 species of birds, 71 species of mammals and dozens of reptiles and amphibians.

The Chilean Lakes district provides stunning views of grand, snow-capped volcanoes surrounded by native forest and postcard-perfect farms.  By contrast, the Peruvian Amazon engulfs us in dense rainforest. Our journey culminates in the evocative lost Inca city of Machu Picchu, built almost 700 years ago in the striking Andes Mountains.
