LEWIE GONSALVES IS BACK FROM HIS MAGICAL HIMALAYAN KINGDOMS TOUR
No matter how often he revisits his roots, Lewie is always inspired by the majesty of the Himalayan peaks. This trip was no exception, as Lewie travelled with a small group of intrepid explorers through Darjeeling, Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet. They have returned with fabulous images of mountain scenery and with unique insight into the area and its cultures.
Lewie’s next President’s Tour is to sunny South India, where he will take his small group from Chennai to Mumbai January 18-February 5, 2010. Along the way they will take in the wildlife at Periyar, the backwaters of Kumarakom and the beaches of Goa. WQ TAKES FLAT STANLEY ON A TRIP OF A LIFETIME
When Diane Collett’s Grade 2/3 class from Wilmington Elementary School asked us to take their Flat Stanley along on a tour, we couldn’t say no. Wilmington’s Flat Stanley accompanied President Lewie Gonsalves to India, Bhutan, Nepal and China on his Magical Himalayan Kingdoms tour in October. Flat Stanley visited tea plantations in Darjeeling and the Tiger’s Nest Monastery in Bhutan; he took the train from Lhasa to Beijing and hiked the Great Wall of China. Flat Stanley returned to his excited class with photos, postcards and an appetite for continued travel. Wilmington’s Flat Stanley’s next journey will be to South Africa, Namibia and Botswana in December.
