ITINERARY IN DETAIL:

DAY 01 ARRIVE YANGON
On arrival in Yangon, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

DAY 02 YANGON
Your sightseeing tour includes the Chauk Htat Gyi, a huge reclining Buddha image. You will visit the National Museum, with an 8-meter-high Golden Lion Throne and Mandalay Royal Regalia. Afterwards you will drive out to the city outskirts to visit Yangon's unique glass factory, where you will see skilled craftsmen hand-blowing glass and creating original glassware, which is sold to hotels and restaurants all over Myanmar.

DAY 03 YANGON
This morning is at leisure. In the afternoon, visit Bogyoke (Scott's) Market (closed on public holidays and full moon days) to see Myanmar's wide range of handicrafts. You will continue your tour along the busy streets in China Town area. A special highlight will be a trishaw ride along the streets and lanes of this picturesque garden city. Your Yangon style evening joy-ride will take approximately 30 minutes and end at the Monsoon Restaurant, where you will enjoy a typical Myanmar dinner

DAY 04 Fly to HELO-INLE LAKE
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Yangon Airport for your flight to Heho. On arrival, you’ll drive to Nyaung Shwe on the edge of Inle Lake. Here you will visit the Shan Chief Museum to observe the life and abode of the Shan King.

This afternoon, you will board your private boats for a spectacular cruise on Inle Lake. This is a photographer's dream, as the calm waters are dotted with floating vegetation and fishing canoes and the scenic high hills provide a perfect backdrop. You will see the lake's unique "leg rowers" - the Intha people who row standing up with one leg wrapped around an oar. At Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the holiest religious site in southern Shan State, you will have a chance to see traditional handicrafts, such as silk weaving on wooden handlooms and a blacksmith shop. You will return to your hotel in the late afternoon.

DAY 05 INLE LAKE
This morning, you will depart by boat to the village of Maing Thauk on the edge of Inle Lake. On arrival, you will have a chance to explore the village on foot and visit the famous Maing Thauk Orphanage. The orphanage was built by a foreign donor and looks after more than 150 children. You will continue your tour of the region and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, with a late afternoon return to your hotel.

DAY 06 INLE LAKE-MANDALAY
You will be transferred to the airport for your morning flight to Mandalay. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will have an opportunity to see various craftsmen at work in their workshops where Kalaga tapestries are being created, gold leaves beaten and silk woven. In the evening, enjoy spectacular sunset views from Mandalay Hill.

DAY 07 MANDALAY
Today you will visit Mahamuni Pagoda, with its spectacular Buddha image covered with thick layers of gold leaves. You will also see the Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung (or Golden Palace Monastery), a superb example of a traditional wooden building. In the afternoon, you will take a boat cruise to Mingun, site of a brick pagoda towering 50 metres above the Ayeyarwady River, and home to the world's largest intact bell. The boat trip is very interesting because you see all types of wooden boats and bamboo rafts, carrying goods up and down the river.

DAY 08 MANDALAY
Depart on a full day excursion to visit picturesque Sagaing Hills, the living centre of Buddhist faith in Myanmar today. You will also travel to Amarapura via the Ava bridge, built by British engineers, and walk over U-Bein Bridge, which is over a kilometre long and made entirely of teak.

DAY 09 MANDALAY-boat to BAGAN
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the banks of the Ayeyarwady River to board your private boat to Bagan. The river is difficult to navigate because of constantly moving sandbanks and your boat may move very slowly. The overnight trip, in very comfortable accommodations, affords a delightful insight into life along the Ayeyarwady. The scenery is timeless - oxen working the fields, water buffalo wallowing in the mud, golden pagoda spires, fishermen, villagers bathing in the river and, of course, every type of boat and river craft that you can imagine.

DAY 10 BAGAN
You will arrive in Bagan early this morning and, after breakfast, disembark and drive to your hotel. In the afternoon, you will visit some of the temples on the region and later, after viewing the sunset in the vicinity of Bagan's ancient monuments, you will return to your hotel.

DAY 11 BAGAN
Today after breakfast, you will drive to Mount Popa (approximately 1hr 30 min), an extinct volcano with a shrine dedicated to animist spirits known as "Nats." On the way, you will visit toddy-palm villages and observe the way of life of the local farmers who produce palm wine and palm sugar. You will enjoy lunch at the beautiful Popa Mountain Resort. For the more energetic, there is time to climb the 777 steps to the shrine at the top of the volcanic plug. You’ll return to Bagan in the late afternoon.

DAY 12 BAGAN-YANGON
This morning, you will experience the colourful Nyaung Oo Market. You will transfer to the airport for your late afternoon flight to Yangon, where you will be met and taken to your hotel.

You will be transferred to Mingalardon Airport to connect with your international flight.
